Next Wednesday, September 17th, Rebecca Kaplan will be celebrating her 38th birthday at her new campaign headquarters in downtown Oakland. I know I can’t wait to join in her birthday celebration and to check out the new HQ. I hear there will be a big cake too.
If you haven’t met Rebecca yet, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Whether you’re undecided, a supporter, or leaning towards voting for Kerry Hamill, Rebecca’s one of the most approachable political candidates I’ve ever met. Come out next Wednesday and ask her those tough questions about Oakland that are on your mind – I bet you won’t be disappointed by her answers.
And if you’re thinking about volunteering for the campaign, Rebecca’s campaign manager will be on hand to sign you up for phoning, precinct walking, leafleting at farmers markets, or just about anything else you want to do to help the campaign.
Can’t wait until Wednesday? Check out the recent Tagami Vision interview with Kaplan. And if you want to know why I’m supporting Kaplan for City Council, check out this post I wrote in April.

Just an FYI – she’ll also be at the Jack London District Candidate Forum on Monday, Sept 15th from 6:30pm-8pm. The forum will be held at the Portobello Regatta Room at 11 Embarcadero West, towards the back of the parking lot. (next door to KTVU)

p.s. – Becks! I went last night, but of course I have no idea what you look like, so I have no idea if I saw you or not. I brought my partner Simon and a neighbor, Melissa. It was a great event and my favorite line was something along the lines of, “How much are you willing to pay to NOT see a republican in office for the next four years?”
Joanna – Sorry I missed you on Wednesday! Thanks for the info on the upcoming forum.
