Living in the O’s First Birthday

8 Jun

It’s kind of hard for me to believe, but I’ve been blogging here at Living in the O for the past year. I just went back to read my first post – most of what I wrote still rings true, but I’m a bit surprised at how much more car-centric I was just a year ago.

When I started this blog, I didn’t know of any of the longer standing Oakland blogs – A Better Oakland (known then as Great Expectations) and Future Oakland – and most of the other Oakland blogs hadn’t even been started yet. I also knew embarrassingly little about this city. I feel so grateful for the Oakland blogger community that now exists and for everything I’ve learned in these past twelve months.

I’m looking forward to another year of blogging and learning about the O.

Congratulations on the anniversary! That’s an accomplishment, for sure. As a two-week-old resident of Oakland, I appreciate the information you’re providing — it’s helping me get acclimated and get ideas on great things to do in town. I already love it here, and am loving it more day by day!

Happy Birthday, Becks! One year is a long time for a blog. When mine came around, I started nostalgically reading through my earliest posts and was pretty amused. I think I’ve improved significantly over time, and although you were good to begin with, you definitely have as well. Here’s to another year!

Genie – Welcome to Oakland! I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog.

V – Thanks! Yeah – it’s interesting to see how my writing style has evolved. I’ve been writing for years, but blogging is an entirely different art form.

Happy belated birthday! I think I’ll see you tonight at the mixer…
