On Thursday, October 2nd, some of my colleagues and I will be hosting a fundraiser for Rebecca Kaplan. But this isn’t just any old fundraiser. October 2nd is the night of the VP debates, and we’ll be showing it on a big screen. Instead of watching the debates at home, you can join hundreds of Oaklanders to shout, cheer, and boo at Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. And of course, it’s a great opportunity to show your support for Rebecca Kaplan’s campaign for Oakland City Council.
I’d love to see many of you there, not only because I want to see you support Rebecca’s campaign but because I’d love to have the blogoaksphere community together for one night. I’ve been wanting to plan a proper get together not affiliated with anything else, but that’s not going to happen until after the election so this will have to substitute as a great chance for all of us to meet, talk politics, and share our love for Oakland.
If you’re on Facebook, you can RSVP on the event page (and you should become a supporter of Rebecca Kaplan on Facebook). Otherwise, just let me know in the comments if you plan to be there. If you want to spread the word, download the event flyers. Also, if you want to help out with anything else, contact me at oaklandbecks at gmail dot com.
