Thanks!

3 Oct

I just wanted to thank everyone who made it out to the Kaplan fundraiser and debate watching party last night. (And a special thanks to everyone who helped out with the event!) It was tons of fun and very successful. We estimate that 150 people attended, and everyone seemed very captivated by the debate. Rebecca of course gave a couple of speeches that fired up the crowd.

Here are some pictures from the night:

If you couldn’t make it last night, but want to support Rebecca Kaplan’s campaign, there are still many opportunities to do so. Here’s how to get involved:

DONATE: The fundraiser was successful last night, but Rebecca’s campaign still needs more funds to compete with Kerry Hamill, who had a $600 per person fundraiser last night! You can donate online: www.KaplanForOakland.org/Donate

VOLUNTEER: You can phone any day of the week at Kaplan’s headquarters in downtown Oakland, from 6-9. Just drop by 1915 Broadway. I’ll be there most Monday and Wednesday evenings through the election so you might see me there.

PUT UP A LAWN SIGN: Drop by 1915 Broadway to grab a lawn sign.

Thank you for organizing this event! It was really fun to watch the debate with a boisterous crowd, and Rebecca Kaplan gave two great speeches. It was also exciting to see the different people that turned out to support Rebecca – neighborhood activists, businesspeople, union organizers, political junkies, and several elected officials (and Mark Curry!). On the Council, Ms. Kaplan is going to have a lot of people to turn to for advice and support
